Mom Fractures Spine Trying Viral Pose
Health Points
- Balance challenges can strain the spine; avoid attempting them in high heels or on unstable props.
- Choose firm surfaces, low heights and a trained spotter when trying new poses to reduce fall risk.
- After any fall, get prompt medical evaluation for back pain and follow clinicians’ guidance.
Mariana Barutkina, a new mother, posted a clip attempting the viral Nicki Minaj pose and fell backward on a stacked kitchen setup.
She says she is recovering while her infant is being cared for by a nanny.
“Trend or whole spine?”
“I decided to start a blog, first shoot — and here I am leaving the doctor with a diagnosis of uncomplicated compression flexion fracture Th9.”
“Irony? Karma? Or just life, which always tests our strength at the most unexpected moment.”
“I hate to be the bearer of bad news over a fun TikTok trend, but I really don’t recommend that anyone seriously try this.”
