Recognizing COVID-19 Skin Changes and How to Address Them

Health Points
- Some people experience skin reactions during or after COVID-19 infection.
- Medical evaluation is recommended for any new or persistent rash.
- Supportive care and prescribed treatments can ease symptoms.
Researchers have noted that certain skin changes may accompany a COVID-19 diagnosis. These changes can vary widely in appearance and timing.
Physicians remind patients that rashes alone do not confirm infection. Testing remains the reliable method for determining whether the virus is present.
“Skin findings should prompt a conversation with your doctor,” one infectious-disease specialist noted.
Home measures such as gentle cleansing and fragrance-free moisturizers may reduce irritation. Over-the-counter hydrocortisone can offer short-term relief for some individuals.
“If discomfort persists or worsens, professional care is the next step,” the specialist added.
Photographic documentation shared with clinicians can help track progression. Prompt reporting of new symptoms supports timely evaluation.

Could Grover’s Disease stem from Covid-19?
Started in May and is continuing to spread. Very itchy.
Both my dermatologist and PA could not diagnose- biopsy failed to return what the rash was and prescribed a cortisone cream.
PA did not do biopsy put prescribed anti-fungal cream.
Took pictures of my systems and AI quickly diagnosed Grover’s Disease.
