Dr. Schulman advises paying attention to food storage and preparation.

“Use coolers with ice packs for outdoor events, wash all produce thoroughly, cook meats to proper temperatures, and when in doubt about food safety, throw it out.”

For those experiencing persistent diarrhea lasting more than two days, or accompanied by high fever, bloody stools, or signs of dehydration, medical attention is necessary. While most heat-related digestive issues resolve on their own with proper hydration and rest, some situations require professional evaluation.
