The FDA has announced that Wegmans is removing several soft cheese products from shelves after possible Listeria contamination was discovered.
This recall affects customers in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
The recalled cheeses include Wegmans Medium Camembert Soft Ripened Cheese, Assorted Cheese Flight, Grilling Camembert with Tapenade & Roasted Tomatoes, and Caramel Apple Pecan Topped Brie Cheese.
If any of these products are in your refrigerator, dispose of them right away and check for signs of illness.
Listeria infection can lead to high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
“Certain groups like young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems may be at higher risk for severe illness from Listeria,” the FDA notes.
Wegmans and the FDA advise consumers to stay alert for symptoms and contact a healthcare professional if concerned.
