The FDA has added a risk warning to the recall of NuNaturals Organic Pure Stevia and Pure Monk Fruit Sweetener, impacting specific lots sold nationwide.
This recall was issued after it was discovered that the two sweeteners were mislabeled, resulting in a potential for temporary health effects if consumed.
Monk fruit powder ended up in bottles labeled as stevia, while stevia powder was placed in bottles labeled as monk fruit sweetener.
The recall applies to bottles with white caps, marked with UPCs 7 39223 00204 0 and 7 39223 00187 6, both with a best-by date of April 2028 and lot number 2.
The FDA classified the risk as Class II, noting any resulting health issues are expected to be temporary or medically reversible.
If you have either of these sweeteners, the safest course is to stop using them and throw them away.
