Trader Joe’s Recall Expands for Fried Rice, Ramen, Dumplings
A sweeping recall is impacting frozen favorites at Trader Joe’s stores nationwide after reports of glass shards in several products.
Ajinomoto Foods North America has significantly expanded its initial recall to include nearly 37 million pounds of ready-to-eat meals.
Affected items include popular dishes like Vegetable Fried Rice, Chicken Shu Mai, and Japanese Style Fried Rice with “best by” dates extending into 2026 and 2027.
The USDA’s Food and Inspection Service released the warning after four consumers discovered glass fragments in their food.
Health Points
- The recall covers over 36 million pounds of chicken and pork fried rice, ramen, and shu mai dumplings.
- While four consumer complaints were filed regarding glass shards, no confirmed injuries have been reported to date.
- Affected products should be discarded immediately or returned to any Trader Joe’s location for a full refund.
Health officials urge shoppers to check their freezers for specific “best by” dates ranging from February 2026 to February 2027.
