A batch of cheddar cheese from Charlevoix Cheese Company, produced by Boss Dairy Farms, has been recalled in Michigan following FDA testing that found Listeria bacteria.
Consumers should check their cheese for the affected lot number and discard or return it immediately to avoid potential health risks.
“In healthy adults, Listeria typically causes fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea,” the FDA advises.
The bacteria is particularly dangerous for young children, older adults, people with weakened immune systems, and pregnant people, where it can lead to severe complications.
