Frozen Spinach Recall: What You Need to Know
Health Points
- Bags of frozen spinach under Sno Pac and Del Mar brands have been recalled due to potential listeria contamination.
- The recall includes Del Mar Bulk Organic Frozen Spinach (35-pound boxes) and Sno Pac Organic Frozen Cut Spinach (10-ounce bags) sold nationwide.
- No illnesses have been reported, but listeria can be especially risky for adults over 65 and people with weakened immune systems.
Sno Pac Foods, based in Minnesota, has recalled select frozen spinach products after a sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.
Both the 35-pound Del Mar Bulk Organic Frozen Spinach and the 10-ounce Sno Pac Organic Frozen Cut Spinach are affected, with specific lot codes and sell-by dates identified by the FDA.
The recall impacts stores and distributors across the country, so it’s important for consumers to check their freezers for these items.
The contamination was found when a bulk case from a supplier matched the lot code used in repackaged 10-ounce bags.
“If you have these recalled products, throw them away or return them for a full refund,” advises the FDA.
Listeria is a bacteria that can cause significant health issues, especially among those over 65, newborns, and anyone with a weakened immune system.
While typical symptoms are mild, including nausea and fever, severe cases can be more dangerous in vulnerable populations.
Stay safe by removing any recalled spinach from your kitchen and reach out to Sno Pac Foods with any questions.
