  • Several major chains make prescription transfers simple.

Rite Aid, once a prominent drugstore chain operating over 2,300 stores, has officially closed all its locations in the United States after bankruptcy proceedings.

The company stated, “All Rite Aid stores have now closed. We thank our loyal customers for their many years of support.”

Originally filing for bankruptcy in October 2023, Rite Aid reduced its national footprint before deciding to sell all assets in May 2025 as part of a second Chapter 11 process.

During this transition, Rite Aid is helping customers transfer their prescriptions to other pharmacies, and tools are available on their website for checking where prescriptions have been moved.

Customers can enter their home pharmacy’s zip code on the Rite Aid website to find the new pharmacy handling their prescriptions, and can also request immunization and prescription history through an online portal.

If you wish to choose a different pharmacy, you can contact your new pharmacy directly with your medication and previous pharmacy details.

Chains like CVS and Walgreens offer user-friendly online services to assist with prescription transfers, requiring basic information such as medication details and previous pharmacy contact info.

Your health matters, so use these resources to keep your prescriptions on track and stay connected to your wellness support team.
