Hand Soaps and Sanitizers Recalled Nationwide
Health Points
- DermaRite has recalled various soaps, sanitizers, and skincare items in the U.S. and Puerto Rico due to potential bacterial contamination.
- The affected products may contain Burkholderia cepacia complex, which poses a risk of serious infection or sepsis for those with weakened immune systems.
- Consumers are urged to check their homes and discard any recalled products immediately.
DermaRite has issued a nationwide recall for several soaps, sanitizers, and skincare items sold in stores and online, including through retailers like Amazon and Sam’s Club.
People with weakened immune systems should be especially cautious, as exposure to the recalled products could increase the risk of infection.
The full list of recalled items includes hand sanitizers, wash creams, skin protectants, and more, with expiration dates on or before August 2027.
The recall was initiated because the products might be contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia complex, a bacteria that can infect wounds or cuts and may lead to sepsis in vulnerable individuals.
Common signs of sepsis include clammy skin, confusion, pain, fever or chills, rapid heartbeat, and difficulty breathing.
If you find any of these items at home, dispose of them right away and contact your healthcare provider if you experience related symptoms.
For more guidance or questions about the recall, customers can reach DermaRite by phone or email.
