Reheating leftover pizza can be simple and delicious with the right method. Experts recommend using a frying pan on the stovetop for classic New York slices to revive crispness and melt the cheese perfectly.

“You don’t need any oil in the pan. And then once you’ve got it heated up just enough—where it’s at about medium—drop the slice directly onto it,” said Scott Wiener, founder of Scott’s Pizza Tours in New York City.

He adds a few drops of water for steam, tilts the pan, and places a lid on top to warm up the pizza evenly without making it soggy.

Neapolitan-style pizzas benefit from a quick spin in the air fryer set to 400 degrees for about two minutes, which keeps them soft and flexible.

Thicker styles, like Sicilian or grandma slices, can taste best at room temperature, according to Wiener, since reheating may dry them out.

Be cautious with microwaves and standard ovens, which can make pizza soggy and less appealing. Some hybrid oven methods can be successful when using a baking sheet and foil for better results.
