  • Janvi Chitalia, a nutritionist, says that adding certain foods to your daily meals can help you lose weight within a week, even without diet or exercise.
  • Aside from adding foods with more fiber or protein to your diet, you should also keep yourself hydrated to be able to lose weight.

Sticking to a diet or finding time for a regular workout to help lose weight can be difficult. If you can manage either of these or even both, losing weight might still be a challenge. The key to really losing that belly may be your metabolism. Many say that having a high metabolism, aside from giving you higher energy levels and making you feel better, lets your body burn more calories.

According to nutritionist Janvi Chitalia from India, adding certain foods to your diet can boost your metabolism and help you reach your weight loss goal in less than a week. And that’s without exercise or having to stick to a low-calorie diet.

Complex carbohydrates

You should avoid starchy grains like pasta, rice, and noodles. Starches are broken down into sugars which can trigger an insulin or glucose spike and lead to fat storage. Alternatives are complex carbohydrates like brown rice, red rice, buckwheat, foxtail millet, quinoa, and others.

Vegetables and fruits are a good source of fiber and provide a healthy way to keep your belly feeling fuller. Sources include apples, guavas, oranges, papayas, strawberry, berries, green leafy vegetables, etc.

Omega 3 fatty acids

These are thermogenic and aid in fat burning. You can find them in fish like mackerel, salmon, and sardines. Vegan options are almonds, chia seeds, flaxseed, walnuts, etc.

Eating more protein can boost your metabolism, let your body burn more calories, and help you lose fat. It also makes you feel more full, which can lower your urge to consume more food. Good sources of protein are chicken, eggs, fish, dairy, and others. If you’re looking for vegan sources, you can turn to almond or coconut milk, beans, edamame, oats, soya, tofu, etc.

A body that’s dehydrated can’t lose weight or gain muscle either. Other than that, dieters can mistake the feeling of dehydration for a signal to eat something. So to lose weight, staying hydrated is important. The average recommended water intake for adults 19-30 years old is 2.7 liters a day for women and 3.7 liters for men.
