Over 200,000 cases of shredded mozzarella and cheese blends have been pulled from store shelves across 31 states after the FDA found they may contain metal fragments.

Retailers such as Aldi, Publix, Target, and Walmart sold these potentially affected products.

This is a class 2 recall, meaning there is a small risk of short-term or medically reversible health effects.

“The cheese may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

Brands impacted by the recall include Borden, Food Lion, Great Value, Happy Farms by Aldi, Publix, and more.

The affected products include mozzarella-only and various shredded cheese blends, with sell-by dates through February and March 2026.

States impacted range from Alabama and California to Texas and Wisconsin.

If you have any of the recalled cheese, the FDA recommends you discard it or return it to the store for a refund.
