Women in Uniform Face New Challenges

  • Women in the US military are being passed over for key promotions, with no female four-star generals left.
  • Healthcare costs continue to rise, impacting adults during open enrollment season.
  • Screaming for stress relief is trending, but science is skeptical of its benefits.

A leading female naval officer lost her chance at a top role overseeing Navy SEALs just weeks before induction, with concerns that Defense Secretary Hegseth opposes women in top positions. Experts say this fits a broader pattern of sidelining women and people of color in government, as female representation at the highest military ranks has sharply dropped in the past two years.

Healthcare premiums are increasing for everyone this open enrollment season, from employer insurance to Medicare. Many are struggling as more than 40% of Americans face medical debt, and experts advise comparing care options, seeking out generic medications, and sometimes paying cash to help cut costs.

Finding ways to cope with daily stress is as important as ever, and group screaming sessions are on the rise in major cities. While the release may feel good in the moment, most psychologists say the long-term effects are unproven — but if it helps and isn’t disruptive, experts say it’s okay to let loose now and then.

Prioritizing mental health and budgeting for rising healthcare expenses can help adults over 40 stay on track with wellness goals. Stay informed about these trends and make choices that support your healthy, empowered lifestyle.

This is not surprising in the least women and minorities have always been looked upon as less than since the beginning of time and it will never end!
