Dr. Jacqueline Sperling from Harvard Medical School explains that mindfulness, such as focusing on the taste and feel of sour candy, helps redirect attention from anxiety about the future to the now.

“Let the candy dissolve on your tongue, paying full attention to its sensations. As your mind wanders, gently bring your focus back to these feelings,” Dr. Sperling suggests.
