Health Points
- Teddi Mellencamp currently has no detectable cancer following immunotherapy and recent scans.
- She will continue immunotherapy treatment for another year as part of her ongoing care plan.
- The process to be considered in remission may take up to three years, with careful monitoring along the way.
Teddi Mellencamp, 44, delivered hopeful news about her health, sharing that recent scans show no detectable cancer in her body. She detailed her experience during a virtual appearance on her podcast, emphasizing the importance of ongoing treatment and regular scans to monitor her progress.
“Just to give a little life update to you guys, I had my immunotherapy yesterday and I did my scans and at this point there is no detectable cancer,” Mellencamp revealed during her conversation with co-host Tamra Judge.
She spoke candidly about her journey, explaining that her treatment plan involves another year of immunotherapy, and she is not considered in remission yet.
“I still need to stay on immunotherapy for another year,” she explained. “And I am not considered in remission or anything like that.”
Mellencamp acknowledged that positive scan results do not mean an immediate return to feeling better, noting that side effects from treatment can still occur.
“I’m still going to be having days when I’m feeling sick and stuff because I still am in immunotherapy, so I’m still fighting because you have to be,” she said.
She also recounted how doctors explained that remission could be considered after one, two, and then three years of clear scans.
“The way (doctors) said it works, it’s like one year, then two years, then at three years, you’re allowed to be considered in remission.”
Since her initial stage 2 melanoma diagnosis in 2022, Mellencamp has undergone several surgeries and treatments, including radiation and additional surgery when the disease spread to her brain and lungs. She has openly shared her journey to inspire others and highlight the value of early detection and ongoing care.
Mellencamp, a mother of three, remains determined, focusing on her family and recovery while receiving support from loved ones and medical staff. She continues to advocate for proactive health checks and managing long-term wellness.
