Tim Curry offered insights into his health during a “Rocky Horror Picture Show” screening celebrating the movie’s 50th anniversary.
The actor, now 79, discussed having a stroke in 2012 and the ongoing effects on his mobility.
“I was having a massage at the time and I didn’t even actually notice anything, but the guy who was doing the massage said, ‘I’m worried about you, I want to call an ambulance,’” he shared.
“And he did, and I said, ‘That’s so silly.’”
Curry spoke candidly about relying on a wheelchair, explaining, “I still can’t walk, which is why I’m in this silly chair, and that’s very limiting. So I won’t be singing and I won’t be dancing very soon. I still have real problems with my left leg.”
He expressed gratitude for the celebration, saying, “I’m so excited by this and very honored by the Academy to do this presentation of our movie, which has dragged on for 50 years.”
Known for his iconic roles in “Rocky Horror,” “Clue,” and as Pennywise in “IT,” Curry continues to contribute his voice to various projects despite his health challenges.
His memoir, “Vagabond,” will be available beginning October 7.
Stories like Curry’s highlight the value of community, adaptation, and celebrating milestones at every age.
