Over 58 million pounds of corn dog and sausage-on-a-stick products are being recalled after pieces of wood were discovered in the batter. The recall was prompted following multiple consumer reports, including five cases of injury.

The products in question were packaged between March 17 and September 26. Brands include Jimmy Dean, State Fair, and some unbranded items, all with establishment numbers “EST-582” or “P-894” found on packaging.

These items were sold online and shipped across the US to retail stores, schools, and Department of Defense facilities.

Distribution to schools happened through commercial channels, not as part of the National School Lunch Program.

If there’s a recalled product in your kitchen, the USDA recommends you throw it away or return it to the place purchased. Do not consume any affected items.

Questions about the recall can be directed to The Hillshire Brands Company at 888-747-7611. For food safety concerns, call the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854 or email [email protected].
