The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently announced a public health alert regarding Trader Joe’s frozen pepperoni pizzas imported from Italy. These pizzas did not undergo the required import reinspection before being sold.
Although the products aren’t currently on store shelves, the alert notes that some people may still have these pizzas in their freezers.
To identify the affected product, look for 17.63-ounce boxes labeled “TRADER JOE’S UNCURED PEPPERONI PIZZA PRODUCT OF ITALY” with manufacturing lot codes 06/16/25 or 06/21/25 and a best by date of 8/16/26 or 8/21/26, plus the Italian establishment number IT 1558 L UE.
If you find this pizza in your freezer, do not eat it. The USDA recommends throwing the pizza away or returning it to the store where it was purchased.
No illnesses or reactions have been reported in connection to these products at this time.
If you have concerns or questions, you can contact Trader Joe’s Customer Relations or the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline for guidance.
Stay on top of food safety by regularly checking your freezer for any affected items.
