  • No paranormal involvement was found in Rivera’s passing.

Dan Rivera, 54, a paranormal investigator, passed away on July 13, 2025, in a Gettysburg hotel room during a tour with the famed Annabelle doll exhibit. The Adams County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Rivera’s death resulted from natural causes associated with heart issues.

“Mr. Rivera had a known history of cardiac issues, which were consistent with the findings,” said Adams County Coroner Francis Dutrow.

Officials clarified that the Annabelle doll, believed by some to be haunted, was not in Rivera’s room when he died. Cardiac issues may be caused by several heart conditions, such as disease of the blood vessels, arrhythmias, congenital defects, heart muscle problems, and valve disorders.

Rivera was on the “Devils on the Run Tour,” organized by the New England Society For Psychic Research, which celebrates famous paranormal investigations and displays items from the Warrens’ Occult Museum.

Annabelle’s reputation as a possessed object dates back to the 1960s, when reported strange events led Ed and Lorraine Warren to place the doll in secure storage for safety. The story inspired several popular movies, including “The Conjuring” and multiple “Annabelle” films.

If you have a history of cardiac issues, regular checkups and healthy lifestyle choices can make a positive difference for heart health at any age.
